Meet the Scribblers!

Co-Founders.

Name: Hayley Griffiths
Current project: Dragon’s Dawn (forever half way through writing it) / traditional fantasy
About me: I am a digital painter, photographer, student art teacher and writer. I make computer games and drink copious amounts of tea, while trying to fix what ever my two cats Mouse and Sookie break.

Name: Kay Hammond
Current project: Untitled one, Sophia Weir. Fantasy
About me: I’m a writer and a servant to my cats. A big geek but a proud geek. I drink coffee like it’s going out of fashion. I’m a huge film buff and sci-fi/fantasy reader. I’ve been drawing since i can remember, I’m also practising digital art.

Name: Heather MacGowan
Current Project: Song of the Sea / Literary Fantasy (is that even a genre?).
About me: Between writing I read and between reading I play the piano and when I lose my marbles I attempt NaNoWriMo which is how this group got started! I like zombie movies and I drink tea and I have a cat who does his best to get in my way no matter what I’m up to.

Members.

Name: Matt Salisbury (Zack)
Current project: Section Cut
About me: I am a 3D artist. I like playing guitar and cooking nice food. I like puzzle games like Spacechem. I am traditionally handsome. I am currently writing a novel called Section Cut (working title) which I describe as a mix between Alice in Wonderland and 9/11.

Name: Elizabeth Clarke aka Queenie

Current project:Untitled historical fiction novel

About me: A complete history geek, I love to write, read, procrastinate and watch period dramas. I drink entirely too much hot chocolate and collect (usually fake) antique pocket watches. I’m also into programming on a small scale. I do web design and have dabbled in the archaic art of interactive fiction (or text adventures for those of you who can remember the eighties). If you misuse an apostrophe in my presence, start working on your will now.

Name: Simon Bradley.
Current project: Light years - SF for younger readers
About me: By trade I am a programmer, working on smart phone games. When it comes to writing, I am a long-time NaNoWriMo veteran, but have struggled to get anything done outside the month of November. I am hoping Scribbles will help with that. My current project is to turn my 2007 Nano novel into something I wouldn’t be embarrassed to let other people read. Preferably by improving the quality, rather than lowering my embarrassment threshold.

Name: Ian Mansfield

Current project: The Night Nurse (kind of a mixed genre thriller/mystery that has a supernatural twist, currently on rewrite and intended for finishing in June Nano!)

About me: I’m a Science teacher and a counsellor. I also spent a year in the Royal Navy and I used to skydive. I started writing 10 years ago (the current project!) but got involved in nanowrimo last november and have loved coming to the group ever since. I’ve been writing poems since I was 18, I love music and gigs and wish I could play guitar well. And write songs (before nano I wrote loads of lyrics). I also love movies and coffee but have been on a caffeine detox for the last year so fresh ground is a real treat!

If you come along to the meetings (one or two or just a few) you can officially call yourself a scribbler too! Just email us about yourself if you’d like us to add you to the page and we’ll get on it ASAP. Happy scribbling!
